Training

Given our desire to fundamentally change the way people have conversations about amputation surgery, we recognise just how important it is that people know how to use the resources we’ve developed.

If you’re wanting to incorporate the Amputation Decision Aid and Discussion Guide into your day-to-day clinical practice, we encourage you to watch our suite of training videos. Each video is just a few minutes long so you can easily fit them in as your time allows.

Training vidoes

A series of training videos have been developed to provide background information on shared decision-making, as well as describe how the Amputation Decision Aid and the Amputation Discussion Guide can be incorporated into every day clinical practice.

While the training videos are specifically designed for healthcare professionals, they can be viewed by anyone.

Healthcare professionals are strongly encouraged to watch the training videos before implementing the Amputation Decision Aid or the Amputation Discussion Guide in their clinical practice.

The following training videos have been produced by tertiary educators with content expertise and many years of academic teaching experience. As such, each module is underpinned with its own intended learning outcomes that have been deliberately scaffolded to build knowledge sequentially:

Preface: An introduction to the training modules

Module 1: The need for shared decision-making

Module 2: What is shared decision-making?

Module 3: The use of decision aids to inform decisions

Module 4: The use of discussion guides to inform decisions

Module 5: Perceived barriers to shared decision-making
